About the role
- Leading a Dev Ops team of engineers.
- Responsible for strategy, delivery, people, and operations that cut across Data Ventures products with a good blend of technical leadership with people and process management.
- Review project requirements, translating requirements into technical solutions, gathering requested information, writing and developing code, conducting unit testing.
- Communicate status and issues to team members and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with project team and cross functional teams.
- Troubleshoot open issues and bug-fixes, ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs.
- Interact with project manager to provide input on project plan.
- Troubleshoot business and production issues by gathering information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause), engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues.
- Formulate an action plan, performing actions as designated in the plan.
- Interpret the results to determine further action, performs root cause analysis to prevent future occurrence of issues and completing online documentation.
- Provide support to the business by responding to user's questions, concerns, and issues (for example, technical feasibility, implementation strategies).
- Facilitate resolutions and lead cross-functional partnership.
- Lead the discovery phase of medium to large projects to come up with high level design by partnering with the product management, project management, business and user experience teams and obtaining cross-function approvals.
- Demonstrate up-to-date expertise and apply this to the development, execution and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others.
- Support and align efforts to meet customer, business needs and building commitment for perspectives and rationales.
- Provide and support the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Identify business needs, determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices.
- Monitor progress and results and adapt to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities.
- Model compliance with company policies, procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans.
- Create software design and architecture for the next software solution. This will be your channel to communicate your ideas with the rest of the team. Not just one but evaluate multiple solutions.
- Analyze competing requirements and articulate tradeoffs and lead discussions with business and development team, leading white board sessions with team.
- Drive the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs.
- Develop and communicate business plans and priorities, removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance.
- Demonstrate adaptability and support continuous learning.
- Create training documentation.
- Oversee the tasks of less experienced programmers and stipulates system troubleshooting supports.
- Ensure business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives.
- Consult with business partners, managers, co-workers, or key stakeholders.
- Solicit, evaluate, and apply suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness and participate in and support community outreach events.
Requirements
- An Engineering Degree - B.E/B.Tech/MS in any stream – Computer Science preferred.
- 12 - 15 years of relevant experience in building highly resilient, highly scalable systems
- 3+ years of leadership/management experience with a team of 10+ engineers.
- A good understanding of Java and Microservices.
- Previous experience with Java, SpringBoot, Cloud (Azure/GCP/AWS ), Kafka (or other messaging service), Memcached/Redis or any caching technologies, relational DBMS ( MySQL, Oracle etc )
- Understand the product and project management space with Agile methodologies.
- CI/CD development environments/tools: Git, Maven, Jenkins.
- Demonstrated end-to-end ownership for development and design of least one cloud-based project - Experience in building extensible platforms, data pipelines is desirable.
- Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly.
- Proficient in new and emerging technologies.
- Ability to balance the long-term "big picture" and short-term implications of design decisions.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills - including negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building skills; ability to influence and persuade, without direct control.
- Mentoring/coaching Senior staff engineers and other Engineers.
- Focus on reusability, frameworks, patterns and configurations tools for faster development.
- Practitioner of Agile (Scrum) methodology
