About the role
- Develops, communicates and leverages a strategic vision aligned with company market and local plans to direct the management team and hourly associates in facility operations and merchandising.
- Provides supervision and development opportunities for management and hourly associates including recruitment, hiring, training, mentoring, succession planning, performance evaluation, recognition, and fostering belonging.
- Upholds the company’s Open Door Policy by meeting with associates, listening to concerns, researching issues, and driving consistency in responsiveness and resolution.
- Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures, analyzes and interprets reports, implements and monitors asset protection and safety controls, and maintains quality assurance standards.
- Initiates, directs and participates in community outreach programs and media engagement, representing the company and supporting company-sponsored programs and sustainability efforts.
- Drives the financial performance of the facility by achieving sales and profit goals, controlling expenses, developing budgets, and forecasting based on economic and community trends.
- Models and enforces customer service standards to ensure customer needs, complaints and issues are resolved within company guidelines.
- Drives sales through merchandising, pricing, signage, inventory levels, replenishment, and presentation standards.
- Ensures the success of the Academy training environment and store standards; serves as a visible operations champion and supports trainee engagement and development.
- Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives, developing and implementing strategies, measuring outcomes, and identifying improvement opportunities.
- Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce, including diagnosing capability gaps and succession planning.
- Cultivates an environment of integrity and ethics, builds internal and external partnerships, and sponsors community involvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree and 2 years general management experience, including financial accountability and 4 years’ experience supervising at least 50 nonexempt and at least 5 exempt associates/employees, including performance management, mentoring, hiring, and termination.
- OR 4 years general management experience, including financial accountability and 4 years’ experience supervising at least 50 nonexempt and at least 5 exempt associates/employees, including performance management, mentoring, hiring, and termination.
- For facilities that sell firearms: successful completion of a firearms-specific Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Firearms Authorized Training.
- For facilities that sell only ammunition: may require a current state issued Certificate of Eligibility.
- Associates required to attend and successfully complete all job-required trainings and assessments (for example, Academy trainings, Open Door trainings, etc.).
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University.
- Preferred: Experience as a Store Manager in a low complex store OR 1 year experience as a Store Manager in a medium complex store OR 2 years experience as a Store Manager in a high volume retail store.
- Preferred: Experience running a fresh or dry grocery area.
