About the role
- Define and drive the technical vision for Walmart’s next-generation Traffic Foundation, shaping the long-term architecture and influencing the overall product and platform roadmap.
- Architect and guide large-scale, cross-functional initiatives, ensuring the design and delivery of highly available, massively scalable, and resilient distributed systems.
- Lead the discovery and design phases of complex projects, translating ambiguous problem domains into well-structured, high-level architectural strategies.
- Align business and technology objectives, ensuring that architectural decisions directly support Walmart’s strategic priorities and customer experience.
- Champion innovation and best practices by driving technical strategy, establishing standards, and enabling teams to deliver with speed, security, and reliability.
- Influence executives and senior stakeholders, providing technical thought leadership, building consensus across teams, and resolving complex technology tradeoffs with clarity and authority.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering with a strong networking background.
- Proven expertise in building and managing distributed, high-availability server systems at scale, preferably in cloud environments (Azure or Google Cloud).
- Hands-on experience designing and operating high-performance, high-throughput servers.
- Strong programming expertise in Go, C, C++, or Java with a focus on systems and infrastructure.
- Deep understanding of networking principles, protocols, and performance optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse technical and business stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, including experience writing technical documentation and presenting complex concepts.
