About the role
- The Cloud Advisory Engineer acts as a primary liaison between the customer (Mission Owners (MO)) and technical teams during the customer intake process and onboarding process.
- Responsible for evaluating technical requirements, conducting engineering assessments, and providing strategic recommendations.
- Bridge the gap between complex user needs and technical cloud solutions to ensure long-term sustainment and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with prospective Mission Owners during the Customer Intake Process to review intake forms and pre-engineering checklists.
- Develop a deep understanding of unique Mission Owner requirements to evaluate the Level of Effort (LOE) required for cloud transitions.
- Act as a strategic translator, turning functional business needs into viable technical cloud architectures.
- Conduct formal Engineering Assessments to determine the technical viability of proposed architectures.
- Provide expert recommendations on implementation strategies and architectural improvements for new MOs entering the cloud ecosystem.
- Assess technical readiness and identify potential risks or blockers before migration begins.
- Serve as a high-level advisory resource for Azure administration, functional requirements, and Business Continuity solutions.
- Consult with MOs on long-term sustainment strategies and opportunities for continuous improvement within cloud environments.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Experience: 2–4 years of cloud engineering experience with a strong background in business systems analysis and user needs evaluation.
- Technical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of Azure administration, cloud architecture, and CI/CD / DevSecOps toolchains.
- Analytical Skills: Proven ability to conduct technical level-of-effort evaluations for complex cloud transitions.
- Security Clearance: U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
- Preferred: Active DoD Top Secret clearance.
- Relevant Cloud Certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Associate).
- Experience implementing DISA STIG configurations and supporting compliance for DoD SRG and NIST SP 800-53 security controls.
- Certification: Security+ certification.
