Designer

• Design, coordinate, and submit Fire Protection drawings, hydraulic calculations, seismic brace calculations, and material/equipment schedules. Stock list projects for fabrication and approve fabrication quotes.
• Integrate other mechanical systems to ensure successful coordination with the fire suppression system and must be able to recognize potential conflicts with other trades.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA standards and insurance requirements as well as all fire and building code requirements.
• Provide updates to purchasing as installation schedule or change orders require modifications to meet installation schedule and deadlines and other requirements.
• Communicate with Design Manager and Field Superintendent to review design, installation and testing of devices and systems throughout the project.
• Produce shop list utilizing computer software for fabrication of system piping.
• Assist and fill in for Design Manager and help train less experienced designers as necessary.
• Responsible for the layout of sprinkler system drawings utilizing available information from the contract's defined scope of the project, architectural drawings, job specifications, site surveys, and relevant NFPA, IBC, and local building codes.
• Responsible for all aspects of the design layout, field checking, fabrication listing, material equipment submittals, hydraulic calculations, applicable installation requirements, and close out procedures.
• Maintain proper Risk Management and Safety procedures on all job sites per VSC policies.

Fire Sprinkler Designer II

General

• Accurately interpret instructions and directives as assigned by supervisor.
• Effectively communicate relevant project/service information to superiors.
• Confer with management, supervisors and employees to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training.
• Formulate teaching outline and determine instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings and workshops.
• Develop presentations to be used in training and/or develop/select other training aids such as manuals/handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, etc.
• Conduct training sessions covering specified areas such as on-the-job training, refresher training, system training, etc.
• Coordinate training schedule with the hiring and training demands of other corporate Trainers and established corporate wide objectives. Coordinate training with Inspection Managers and Division Managers to meet their business needs.
• Report on progress to Inspection and Division Managers of employees under guidance during training periods. Maintain trainee records.
• Assist employees with problems concerning "how to" perform specific tasks related to Inspection functions.
• Make suggestions on improving work processes and procedures for Inspections corporate wide.
• Requires mobility to travel to other divisions client locations and job sites throughout company. Must be capable of using ladders, lifts and scaffolding where necessary to view conditions, as well as access to confined spaces, attics, basements, and cooler installations.
• Requires visual acuity to read documents, meters and drawings as needed.
• Individual also performs administrative tasks in office environment utilizing standard office equipment. Position requires visual acuity for PC and document records; requires good speaking voice for training presentations and phone interactions. Auditory acuity for training and telephone use as well as digital dexterity for PC use are required. Must possess valid driver’s license for use of company vehicle.
• Communicate with customers or potential customers as requested to provide site evaluations, handle discrepancies, complaints, and advice on recommended remedial action or procedures as required.
• Assists with communication with AHJs as requested for Inspection departments and represent VSC and the customer’s interests and work to resolve issues of non-compliance or discrepancy.
• Work closely with technical trade employees or departments to ensure that clients understand circumstances involving disagreement such as scope, method of handling on site conditions, or other client dissatisfaction, and that all are handled tactfully and with patience and integrity.

Fire Protection Technical Workforce Trainer, 60% Travel

• Create, distribute, and bill incoming orders from Enterprise customers and maintains customer expectations to meet service agreements.
• Serve as one of the direct points of contact for Enterprise customers.
