About the role

  • Accountable for supporting all operations of their assigned region(s) while maintaining high levels of quality service and support.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and management for Area Directors or other local leaders and other staff ensuring the highest levels of quality care and support.
  • Ensure the letter and spirit of Vista Care’s mission and BEST CARE values are fully operationalized and promoted through directives, policies, and communications.
  • Support an engaging and supportive organizational culture and environment of inclusiveness for individuals supported, staff, and guardians.
  • Manage services within the assigned region(s), including budgeting, planning, recruiting, fiscal management, profit and loss (P&L) oversight, authorization processes, and accounts receivables management.
  • Evaluate regional organizational structure and operational processes to ensure sustainability and provide recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Assess and recommend organization-wide changes and structure in collaboration with other Executive Directors and stakeholders.
  • Participate in strategic planning and implement goals within the assigned region/state.
  • Collaborate with other Executive Directors to share strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats and implement solutions as needed.
  • Ensure that all open beds and vacancies for individuals supported do not exceed established targets.
  • Work with leadership, guardians, and funders to ensure satisfaction with Vista Care’s services and minimize risk of discharge.
  • Ensure all residential programs follow applicable licensure, certification, contractual standards, and federal/state/local laws.
  • Utilize Quality Assurance, Employee Engagement, and other information sources to implement strategies to enhance service quality.
  • Actively participate in quality and performance improvement initiatives in partnership with quality and operational leaders.
  • Establish and implement regional strategies for new development opportunities and assess potential new markets.
  • Lead employee engagement and retention activities and monitor performance metrics with the People Division.
  • Lead and develop direct reports and participate in development of direct care staff including performance reviews, coaching, mentoring, and corrective action.
  • Respond timely to escalated concerns from individuals supported, guardians and/or staff according to policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with support departments (accounting, finance, human resources, etc.).
  • Demonstrate expertise in relevant rules, regulations, and statutes and advocate for beneficial rule changes.
  • Lead and participate in surveys by government agencies and internal teams and manage corrective action plans.
  • Ensure any program findings are addressed timely and escalated appropriately.
  • Complete routine reviews and audits of assigned programs and report to Vista Care leadership.
  • Respond to emergency situations providing guidance, assistance, and support; report significant matters to leadership.
  • Represent Vista Care with outside agencies, governmental agencies, third-party payers, and in relevant provider association functions.
  • Guide and participate in program marketing activities with the marketing team.
  • Ensure all staff act in accordance with Vista Care Values and serve as a role model.
  • May be required at times to provide direct care and perform other duties as assigned by Vista Care leadership.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • At least five (5) to seven (7) years’ previous experience in residential services and support with individuals with disabilities preferred
  • Three (3) years to seven (7) years senior-level leadership experience with significant management experience in multisite operations including mentorship, management and supervision of others required.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully partnering with payer sources and state and/or federal government entities.
  • Strategic and innovative problem solver who demonstrates the ability to make effective decisions that align with Vista Care Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Responsiveness to the concerns of individuals supported, guardians, and all Vista Care staff members.
  • Attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to supervise and manage others while ensuring the best possible care and support is provided to individuals.
  • Maintains a high degree of professionalism, including maintaining professional boundaries and adherence to confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated record of goal achievement and of successfully taking on increased responsibility with positive results.

  • Ability to communicate professionally across all departments.

  • Valid driver’s license and clear driving record in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and Vista Care’s best practices required if position requires transport of persons served in a company owned vehicle. Authorization must be provided to Vista Care to obtain a DMV record which can be approved for coverage by our company insurance carrier.
  • Successful completion of a caregiver background check required.
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • A college, or university degree or the equivalent is required. Social services or similar fields preferred. However, five (5) or more years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • CPR certification preferred.
  • Medication administration training preferred or within 60 days of hire
  • CPI training preferred or within 60 days of hire
  • CPI Facilitator Certification training preferred or within 6 months of hire (High Behavioral ONLY)
  • AFH/CBRF certification preferred (WI only)
  • Ability to successfully complete all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Ability to lift at least fifty (50) pounds on a routine basis to assist with individuals supported.
  • Ability to bend, twist, lift, reach and assist individuals supported with their movements including their ability to stand up when needed
  • Variable weekly hours to support operational needs including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willingness/ability to travel to various programs as assigned, which may include across various states.
  • Comfort working in home-like, residential settings with varying degrees of background noise.
  • Awareness of potential exposure to blood borne pathogens and requirement to follow universal precautions.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions at times and handle emergencies.
  • Ability to interact with individuals who are intellectually and developmentally disabled and may be frail or confused and have the potential for verbal or physical aggression.
