Medical Billing and Coding

• Review claims against patient charts before submission to ensure ICD/CPT coding reflects the complex patient population and aligns with clinical protocols, strategic goals, and value-based care objectives
• Review and process medical records for billing, ensuring accuracy and complete documentation
• Submit insurance claims and follow up on outstanding payments
• Collect payments for services and communicate with patients and insurance providers about billing inquiries
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve patient-record discrepancies and billing issues
• Ensure compliance with applicable medical billing and coding regulations and guidelines
• Investigate complex claim and reimbursement issues, identify systemic root causes, and coordinate corrective actions across teams
• Perform other duties assigned by the Revenue Cycle Manager and/or Revenue Cycle Lead

Medical Billing and Coding Specialist II

Receptionist

• Deliver remote support via chat, phone, and email for inbound patient questions and requests
• Answer the main clinic phone and field questions from patients and insurance companies
• Prepare patient charts and confirm insurance eligibility before appointments
• Research and complete patient referral requests
• Answer patient questions and concerns about referrals via Intercom
• Update patient records in Athena
• Collect patient payments by phone when required
• Reschedule patients when a provider calls in sick or reschedules
• Contact patients who did not schedule follow-up appointments to identify obstacles
• Run clinic reports for the practice manager’s weekly and monthly meetings
• Troubleshoot issues in Athena, Aircall, or Intercom for the care coordinator team
• Assist with special projects as needed
• Provide quality customer service while following HIPAA rules and regulations
