About the role

  • Work with cross-functional teams to determine project goals and packaging requirements and specifications.
  • Work with product development to design and develop packaging for new and existing products.
  • Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine physical characteristics, handling, safety requirements, and materials required.
  • Develop or direct development of sketches, specifications, and written analyses of proposed packaging for approval.
  • Consult with purchasing and production departments to determine costs and feasibility of producing proposed packaging.
  • Maintain records of packaging development activities, test data, and pertinent information for each project.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Engineering or related discipline
  • 2-3 years of experience in packaging design and development, preferred
  • Knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, CAD, Microsoft Project, CAPE and SAP
  • Knowledge of design, development and documentation of packaging validation protocols
  • Knowledge of Engineering drawings and specifications
  • Working knowledge of packaging materials and processes, fabrication techniques, cushioning theory, shock and vibration, graphics layout and printing processes, global shipping practices and environmental regulations
  • Ability to apply cushioning theory and shock and vibration knowledge to develop creative packaging design solutions
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and time-lines effectively
