About the role
- Lead geotechnical investigations for infrastructure, commercial, residential and energy projects
- Interpret field and lab data to develop design parameters and recommendations
- Prepare and review detailed geotechnical reports and proposals
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients—building trust through regular communication, meetings, and progress updates
- Build and maintain strong client relationships with engineering firms, developers, contractors, and government agencies
- Collaborate with other disciplines and support business development activities
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work for accuracy and completeness
- Support hiring, training, and performance development within the team
- Expansion of client base and work opportunities in geotechnical space across Alberta primarily and expanding further into Canada with business growth.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Geological or Civil Engineering
- 6 to 10 years of professional work experience in the field of geotechnical engineering
- P.Eng. designation in good standing with APEGA is required
- Experience in the use of commercially available software packages such as Slope/W, GINT, Plaxis, Uni-Settle, L-Pile, A-Pile
- Familiarity with ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Google Earth and Microsoft products is required
- Experience with field investigation techniques such as soil logging (auger drilling, sonic drilling, etc.)
- Experience in developing client relationships and business development to expand business in the geotechnical field is required
- Proficiency with spoken and written English language is required
- Valid class 5 driver’s license
