About the role

  • Lead mechanical design and environmental validation of ruggedized enclosures and mounting systems for smart antennas, radar/lidar/camera modules, and high-performance compute platforms
  • Ensure reliable operation in harsh automotive and industrial environments
  • Design enclosures and mounts with IP67+ sealing and thermal management
  • Develop 3D CAD models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks or Creo
  • Optimize designs for manufacturability, serviceability, and cost
  • Perform thermal simulations and structural FEA
  • Design passive and active cooling solutions for high-power compute systems
  • Define and execute test plans for vibration, shock, thermal cycling, and ingress protection
  • Support certification efforts for automotive and industrial standards
  • Oversee prototype builds and integration with electrical and optical components
  • Collaborate with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and cross-functional teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in ruggedized product design, preferably in automotive or industrial sectors
  • Strong knowledge of materials, sealing techniques, and thermal management
  • Experience with IP67/IP69K design, vibration isolation, and EMI shielding
  • Experience developing 3D CAD models and detailed drawings (SolidWorks or Creo)
  • Experience performing thermal simulations and structural FEA
  • Experience designing passive and active cooling solutions for high-power systems
  • Experience defining and executing environmental tests (vibration, shock, thermal cycling, ingress protection)
  • Ability to support certification for automotive and industrial standards
  • Able to work in a collaborative, multi-site team environment
  • Confident self-starter; detail oriented with a first-time right attitude
  • Motivated by challenging work
  • Nice to have: Familiarity with automotive standards (e.g., ISO 16750, LV124)
