About the role
- Lead the v0 engineering team: Manage the engineering team; set technical direction and standards for the team
- Own engineering outcomes: Accountable for code quality, system reliability, delivery timelines, and technical debt management
- Build the team: Recruit, hire, and retain engineers; develop talent and create clear growth paths
- Drive execution: Establish development processes, remove blockers, and ensure the team ships consistently
- Partner cross-functionally: Work closely with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to align on priorities and dependencies
- Make technical tradeoffs: Engage in architecture discussions, evaluate build-vs-buy decisions, and balance short-term delivery with long-term maintainability
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years managing engineers or engineering managers
- Track record of building and scaling engineering teams (15+ engineers)
- Experience shipping AI/ML products, developer tools, or consumer-facing applications
- Strong technical foundation—you can review system designs, understand model integration challenges, and evaluate infrastructure tradeoffs
- Clear communicator who sets expectations, gives direct feedback, and builds trust across teams
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and making decisions with incomplete information
