About the role

  • Develop predictive models and machine learning algorithms that clinicians and staff will use to improve patient care, healthcare operations and financial performance.
  • Develop and deploy LLM based Agentic AI and automation solutions using RAG or fine-tuning foundation models.
  • Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable ML pipelines, encompassing data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI and Machine Learning technologies to ensure VCU Health is in the forefront of AI innovation.
  • Conduct rigorous model evaluation, including performance testing and bias assessment, to ensure the ethical and reliable deployment of AI systems.
  • Mentor and guide junior members of the team sharing expertise in AI/ML techniques, model development, and deployment best practices.
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs to integrate ML models or GenAI solutions with other applications and systems within the organization.

Requirements

  • 8+ years’ experience in Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence tools and technologies required.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Python or R and SQL required.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Full Stack Machine Learning Engineer or similar role required.
  • 2+ years’ experience in healthcare environment preferred.
  • Experience working with unstructured data, NLP technologies and big data is required.
  • Experience working with one of the opensource ML libraries/frameworks -PyTorch/TensorFlow/Keras/Numpy required.
  • Experience with Foundation models, Prompt Engineering, fine-tuning or RAG required.
  • Knowledge of Data Management, Data Warehousing, Data Engineering and Data Governance concepts preferred.
  • Experience working with Cloud technologies such as AWS/Azure/GCP required.
