About the role
- Performs general underwriting functions including submission reviews, pricing analysis, and setting policy terms and conditions.
- Analyze inspection reports, communicate inspection requirements, and determine if underwriting action is required.
- Monitor various reports for consistency and determining appropriate action or changes.
- Make and follow through with request for missing information from outside sources.
- Establish and maintain relationships with our agents; cross sell to round out existing accounts.
- Act as a liaison with our claims team on any claim’s activity and determine if underwriting action is required.
- Partner with Concierge and Underwriting teams in building and maintaining business relationships.
- Demonstrate solid service standards while developing strong sales skills and underwriting best practices.
- Develop relationship with assigned brokers. Able to build trust and reputation in the market.
- Develop basic knowledge of underwriting guidelines and principles.
- Develop working understanding of applicable file documentation.
- Manage new business submission and issuance process within authority level with agents and Concierge partners.
- Manage Risk Services, Endorsement and Renewal support processes within authority level with Concierge and Underwriting teams.
- Identify and prioritizes tasks to assist the underwriters in winning the best business.
- Establish basic underwriting of internal reports.
- Establish ability to identify basic profile and loss indicators with book of business.
- Provide timely and clear account proposals to agent partners with underwriting supervision.
- Participate in agency web trainings. Navigation of presentation software applications. Successful identification of key players at brokers.
- Develop foundational understanding of industry with exposure to compliance, insurance laws, and insurance financials.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in property & casual insurance industry.
- Proactive in building industry knowledge and continued education.
- Analytical with good decision-making skills. Intuitively able to support UW's workload, binds, and needs.
- Basic knowledge of all products, able to point out Vault's coverage advantages. Working knowledge of Vault's internal UW guidelines / philosophies.
- Clear, concise oral and written communication skills.
- Team oriented, adaptable, and highly organized with time management.
- Responsive, accessible, friendly, and positive. Delivers on promises and builds trust and confidence. Completes assigned work with a sense of urgency.
- Execution of patience and white glove service when engaging with agents/agencies relationships.
- Open to development and feedback.
- Maintains excellent attendance and timeliness.
