About the role
- Review contractual requirements for steel designs during the sales & engineering stages of the projects.
- Supporting the Bidding team with Steelwork estimation using best/quick engineering approaches, carrying out structural design activities, connection design, and generation of Tekla models.
- Support the Site Installation team by providing proper guidance on the steelworks and accessories to enable the installation works as per the design codes/standards/project specifications/site conditions irrespective of greenfield or brownfield projects.
- Identification and implementation of potential optimizations during the planning and execution of design/fabrication/installation works.
- Plan and coordinate Steelwork activities with internal and external stakeholders.
- Generation of design details along with the relevant documentation and submissions.
- Providing smart solutions for the various modifications with the least time and cost impact.
- Assurance of quality guidelines and quality process.
- Assessment of claims and variation orders.
- Comply with occupational health, safety, security, environment, and quality requirements.
Requirements
- Diploma/bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in steelwork design, detailing, and handling for Steel Structure Projects.
- Experience in 2D and 3D design and detailing software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, Staad Pro, Ram Connection, and Tekla Structures.
- Microsoft Office (specifically Excel/Word) knowledge is mandatory.
- Knowledge of American/British steel design codes/standards is mandatory.
- Knowledge of processes within material flow systems, e.g., in airports (baggage handling systems, cargo systems), is a plus.
- Excellent communication (verbal & written) skills in English.
- Analytical, sharp at problem diagnosis.
- Structured and methodical approach to work.
- Engaged team player who can work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Demonstrate any key situations where you have positively influenced the system design and subsequent contract award.
- Flexible working approach and capability to manage workload, a team player who can train others and share knowledge.
- Ability and willingness to travel both domestically and internationally if required.
