About the role
- Directs all administrative activities for the Department of Neurology, ensuring compliance with state and university rules and regulations.
- Accountable for department fiscal matters, including budget development, budget monitoring and financial reporting, purchasing decisions and processes, accounts payable processing, foundation support, clinic productivity, and revenue cycle operation activities at the department level.
- Prepares and presents budget for assigned divisions and monitors compliance of each cost center within the approved budget.
- Serves as an administrative representative for the unit on division, college, campus or university-wide or committees and work groups.
- Directs all administrative activities of the department in compliance with state, university, UMSA and USFTGP rules and regulations.
- Coordinates activities of the various divisions within the department.
- Serves on various committees and work groups within the Morsani College of Medicine and USF Health.
- Coordinates recruitment efforts with internal hiring managers, serving as the departmental liaison with central HR.
- Oversees the academic appointment process for faculty, house officers, fellows, and students in compliance with USF policy.
- Participates in department's strategic planning process by developing annual and long-term goals that align with the mission of the department, implements the strategies and action plans of each division, advises on actions to achieve success, and monitors progress.
- Participates in other key department projects as part of Neurology Executive Management Committee.
- Assists faculty members in obtaining and administering research grants.
- Oversees billing, collections, and tracking of accounts payable/receivable for clinical services.
- Oversees clinic operations and services including, but not limited to, clinic budgets, lab services, accreditation surveys, allied health staff, patient issues, medical records, and medical errors.
- Assists the Department Chair with coordinating and managing the faculty tenure and promotion process.
- Responsible for ensuring that FAR and PERT reports are completed and authorized in a timely fashion.
- Responsible for ensuring that annual faculty assignment and evaluation process completes according to the OFAA schedule.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or other field directly related to the position's specific responsibilities and three years of professional business experience; OR a Master's degree and one year of professional business experience.
- Appropriates experience clinical operations or the department's specialty may substitute on a year for year basis for the required degree.
- Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree.
