About the role

  • Leads a high‑performing team focused on identifying, securing, and scaling partnerships that expand USAA’s new distribution channels
  • Owns the full front‑end partnership lifecycle: developing a disciplined pipeline, building and prioritizing opportunity maps, engaging and advancing prospects through each stage of the funnel
  • Manages contracts negotiations and executions, and oversees all pre‑onboarding activities
  • Ensures a seamless transition to onboarding and partnership management teams while remaining engaged for hypercare support, quarterly business reviews, and acting on future growth opportunities.
  • Builds and maintains ongoing relationships between the company, strategic partners, and customers
  • Provides business opportunity analysis, assesses potential markets, and develops projects for use in new marketing initiatives
  • Anticipates opportunities and potential solutions and leads the team through the problem resolution process.
  • Responsible for developing internal processes and policies to support future growth opportunities to provide USAA services in communities where USAA does or does not have a physical presence.
  • Influences the strategic activities/direction across the team that leads to increased business development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree OR 4 years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree. (Total of 12 years of experience in business development and sales experience in a financial services industry without bachelor’s degree)
  • 8 years of business development and sales experience in a financial services industry.
  • 3 years of direct team lead or management experience.
  • Experience focused on strategy development, competitive customer and industry analysis, market research, analysis of product performance, and support of corporate development / strategic value assessment activities.
  • Demonstrated expertise executing on innovative ways to communicate the business value to prospects and existing clients.
  • Extensive experience presenting information to company leadership and making dynamic presentations to large groups from within and outside the company.
  • Expert organizational skills with an ability to simultaneously manage numerous sales campaigns.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate.
  • Comprehensive experience processing complex information and quickly identifying innovative solutions that meet the needs of potential clients.
