About the role

  • Develop sourcing strategies for complex custom batteries in next gen wearables (lithium ion, solid state, thin film), balancing safety, quality, cost, lead times, and supplier capabilities.
  • Serve as commercial owner for battery tech, aligning cell selection, pack architecture, and requirements across HW, SW, FW, product, and design with supply strategy to deliver safe, compliant, cost-effective solutions.
  • Lead supplier strategy to qualify new battery tech and vendors, build key partnerships, negotiate contracts, track performance, and drive improvement to ensure reliable supply.
  • Own end‑to‑end supplier and commodity strategy for battery cells and packs, including supplier selection, commercial structures, capacity alignment, and long‑term roadmap positioning
  • Act as the primary commercial decision‑maker for battery pricing, allocation, and trade‑offs across cost, risk, and supply continuity
  • Lead RFQ processes, cost modeling, negotiations, and management of cost variances across all battery cost elements
  • Drive disciplined supplier governance through structured QBRs/MBRs focused on capacity, clear‑to‑build readiness, delivery performance, quality, and cost
  • Own lifecycle execution for Battery, from early architecture alignment and technology down‑select through mass production and sustaining, while shaping long‑term supply resilience and cost competitiveness
  • Operate with urgency and ownership in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment, balancing near‑term build needs with long‑term strategic cost and technology roadmaps

Requirements

  • 5+ years of work experience in strategic sourcing or procurement with a strong focus on battery components for consumer electronics
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, Supply Chain, or related field; Master’s Degree a plus
  • Proven experience in negotiating commercials and a deep understanding of battery cost structures and should-cost modeling
  • Strong understanding of battery technology and industry trends (e.g., lithium-ion chemistries, cell design, safety standards, next-generation technologies such as solid-state and thin-film)
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity, can manage multiple complex projects in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, both domestically and internationally
