About the role

  • Product Ownership: take ownership of a hardware product to maximize company impact and customer satisfaction by solving customer and business pain points
  • Market and Technology Landscape: Monitor and understand new and novel technologies and products in the consumer and wearables market; distill key insights for the team.
  • Storytelling: Craft a unique product story rooted in deep customer insights.
  • Problem Solving: Proactively identify and resolve product-related issues throughout the product lifecycle.
  • User Research: conduct market research, competitive analysis, and qualitative and quantitative user studies
  • Requirements Management: Write and manage product requirements (PRD), regularly assess progress, and facilitate timely decision making
  • Product Development Lifecycle: Support the entire product lifecycle from concept to end of life, working closely with engineering and design teams to ensure timely and high-quality execution
  • Prioritization: prioritize features, options, and product improvements - balancing cost, timeline, and experience tradeoffs
  • Communication: Effectively communicate priorities, plans, progress, and challenges to stakeholders across the organization. Maintain clear, organized communication.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with a diverse, talented team of designers, engineers, scientists, marketers, and analysts to create incredible products. Partner closely with software product management counterparts.
  • Roadmap support: contribute to the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Oura’s hardware product portfolio, including next-generation products.
  • Go-to-market: Support go-to-market readiness by developing compelling positioning and pricing and overseeing overall product readiness.
  • Resource planning: Determine what a staffing and resources are needed for your area of ownership
  • People Leadership: Grow the team over time based on project needs, manage and mentor team members

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in product management with a proven track record of delivering products with high business impact and outstanding customer satisfaction.
  • A deep understanding of hardware development, including design phases, manufacturing, materials, compliance, and quality.
  • Experience with connected electronics including connectivity, compute, battery, firmware, and software features.
  • Successfully taken new and/or existing hardware products from concept to commercial launch with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to combine consumer, technology, and business insights into a simple narrative (with data to back it up) that excites both internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to quickly analyze and come up with creative solutions to challenging problems under pressure and with extreme constraints.
  • Unmatched ability to get things done, move mountains, roll up your sleeves, and unblock tricky situations with empathy, intelligence, and drive.
  • Excellent written and presentation skills that create clear thinking, high-quality discussions, and effective decision-making among large groups.
  • Unrelenting optimism that drives people and projects forward, mixed with genuine kindness and thoughtfulness.
  • A natural tendency to do something as well as it can possibly be done, try new things, and learn quickly from failed experiments.
