About the role

  • Lead and scale the team – Grow a high-performing software organization ranging from mobile and backend engineers to AI/LLM Engineers and engineering managers.
  • Set direction for the product – Together with the Product, Design, Science and Data science leaders, set direction for the Health Intelligence platform and Core UX, with a particular focus on the AI/ML platform, innovation, trust, and personalized and intelligent user experience.
  • Build the Health Intelligence platform – Evolve the platform powering Oura Insights and Advisor with AI and machine learning -powered tech stack.
  • Build delightful and consistent user experiences – Together with Design, build and evolve the Oura user experience and build system capabilities for other teams to innovate on.
  • Drive a data- and AI-driven culture – Measure what matters, build hypotheses, validate with data and leverage AI for innovation and efficiency.
  • Operate the software systems – Ensure the product is available when the people need it with efficient operations.
  • Collaborate at the highest levels – Partner with other product and business leaders, as well as other stakeholders, to deliver exceptional value to Oura members.
  • Bring your leadership to the software team – As part of the software leadership team, shape the direction of the technology strategy and organization.

Requirements

  • Proven Software Leadership – Demonstrated success in leading diverse, geographically-distributed teams, adept at navigating the complexities of multiple locations and time zones effectively.
  • AI / ML Platform Leadership – Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams that build and operate AI/ML platforms for data-rich products (e.g., recommendation systems, personalization engines, conversational AI, or digital health), including model serving, feature pipelines, and evaluation frameworks.
  • People-First Management – 5+ years of experience hiring, developing, and scaling software teams, including managing managers, Principal ICs and fostering leadership growth.
  • Vision and Execution – A track record of driving impact through software products, from roadmap planning to execution.
  • Mobile Apps – Experience owning the architecture and evolution of large-scale mobile apps on iOS and Android (navigation, design systems, shared components)
  • Data-Driven Development – You’ve embedded analytics into the product and know how to use data for decision-making.
  • Cloud Infrastructure – Expertise in cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure and practical experience designing, operating, and optimizing GenAI integrations or LLM-based systems (e.g., model provider selection, latency & cost tradeoffs, safety policies, observability) and familiarity with GenAI providers like OpenAI, Google and Anthropic.
