About the role
- Support the daily monitoring of trade executions and order flows to help ensure client trades are processed accurately, on time, and in strict adherence to best execution policies.
- Assist the team in monitoring algorithmic trading flows and evaluating daily operational risks, helping to ensure our automated trading systems run smoothly and within defined risk parameters.
- Support the continuous monitoring of trading activities to assist in identifying potential market abuse scenarios. Help prepare data for regulatory compliance reporting (such as MiFIR, MAR, or Best Execution).
- Assist in managing and expanding our offered investment universe across various European and EMEA jurisdictions, ensuring new and existing assets align with local regulatory and operational requirements.
- Assist with the daily operational processes surrounding trading, including the execution handling for equities, mutual funds, and ELTIFs (European Long-Term Investment Funds).
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product and Operations teams to assist with research and operational readiness for new brokerage product launches across different regions.
- Actively participate in team projects aimed at improving execution mechanisms, rectifying mistrades, and optimizing our internal trading infrastructure.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a similar field.
- A strong, demonstrable passion for financial markets, data analysis, trading, and the fintech ecosystem.
- Basic understanding of market structures, trade lifecycles, and different financial instruments (knowledge of mutual funds, ELTIFs, or algorithmic trading concepts is a great bonus!).
- High attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proactive, "hands-on" attitude when dealing with complex data.
- Comfortable working with data and eager to learn about trading platforms, market data tools (like Bloomberg), and internal order management systems.
- Fluency in English is required; German is a strong plus.
- You are available to work 15–20 hours per week (with flexibility around your university exam schedules).
Benefits
- Impact-driven work: We’re building the infrastructure that will power the future of investing in Europe. It’s complex, ambitious, and meaningful. You’ll work with modern technologies and create something entirely new. No legacy systems, no limits.
- Team celebrations: Participate in company-wide events, such as UpFest, dinners, offsites and our Holiday party, to connect with colleagues and celebrate our achievements.
- Inclusion: We’re committed to a culture where everyone belongs and thrives. Our Employee Resources Groups foster inclusion and connection, like Upfem for our female Upvengers, or UpVergent supporting neurodivergent Upvengers and allies.
