About the role
- Conduct custom financial modeling and strategic analysis of recorded music deals and unique projects by collaborating with other departments to assess investment returns, establish strategic rationale, and succinctly communicate findings
- Function as an unbiased partner to proactively aid negotiations
- Perform post-mortem / current performance analyses for internal management and external stakeholders
- Manage approval process for select UMG executive approval-level deals
- Provide financial guidance for other business units & departments ranging from merchandise & music pricing, cost analysis, impairment analysis, etc.
- Expected to enhance financial models and improve reporting efficiency
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree ideally in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
- Music industry experience preferred
- Minimum 7-10+ years of relevant work experience in finance, M&A, consulting/strategy, or similar field.
- Prior exposure to M&A / deals preferred
- Proficiency with MS Office products, including advanced excel/financial modeling skills (able to build models from scratch)
- Proven ability to analyze and communicate complex analyses and key findings to executives
- Great organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize based on evolving workload and quick deadlines
- High level of intellectual curiosity, especially around music, technology, and entertainment
- Personable with strong team-working skills
- Experience with financial systems a plus (SAP, MicroStrategy, etc.)
- Comfort using & creating AI-powered tools a plus
