About the role

  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance in the formulation, implementation and monitoring of the Culture Sector’s strategy, policies and programmes.
  • Promote the role of culture, heritage and creativity as drivers of sustainable social and economic development.
  • Oversee the protection, conservation and transmission of cultural heritage.
  • Represent the Director-General and UNESCO in high-level international forums.

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in a discipline related to culture.
  • At least fifteen (15) years of relevant professional experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Proven leadership experience in the design and implementation of policies, programmes or international frameworks in fields related to culture.
  • Strong experience representing an organization and collaborating effectively with senior government and/or international officials.
