About the role
- This position has the administrative responsibility for the overall coordination of nursing services during an assigned off-shift
- Responsible for ensuring the most efficient coordination patient placement and efficient patient flow
- Perform rounds throughout the shift to assure efficient patient flow and high quality, safe patient care
- Addresses and resolves urgent concerns, patient and family complaints occurring during the shift
- Assures that proper staffing is in place
- Provides advice and counsel to nursing staff for emergencies and in medical management
- Coordinates the smooth transition of operations upon shift changes.
Requirements
- Graduate of a recognized school of Nursing
- Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse License
- Minimum five (5) years of clinical nursing experience and demonstrated skill in a team leader role
- Ability to supervise a nursing shift at a busy community hospital
- Excellent knowledge of nursing practices and regulatory and legislative requirements
- Good problem solving, planning, and organizing skills
- Ability to use computer-based nurse scheduling systems, and to use standard business office applications software, such as MS Office.
