About the role
- Reviews and approves all contractual documents for protection of company's contractual posture, satisfaction of government specifications and requirements, and adherence to company policy.
- Advises leadership of contractual rights and obligations and also provides interpretation of terms and conditions.
- Prepare, review, and edit contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies and relevant laws.
- Lead the negotiation and execution of contract amendments or extensions when necessary.
- Lead and manage contract life cycle, including kick-off and close activities
- Monitor and enforce contract compliance throughout the contract's lifecycle, including tracking key milestones, deliverables, and deadlines.
- Maintain an organized and up-to-date contract repository, including version control, renewal dates, and related documentation.
- Identify and assess potential risks associated with contracts and propose mitigation strategies to protect the organization's interests.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors, clients, and other stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations that may impact contracts and ensure all contracts comply with relevant legal requirements.
- Generate reports and provide contract-related data and insights to management and other stakeholders as needed.
- Conduct training sessions or provide guidance to employees and team members on contract management best practices and compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) and 5+ years of contracts related experience
- Experience managing full scope of contract support, including kick-off meetings to close out activities
- May be required to maintain security clearance
- Advanced Degree (Preferred)
- Direct experience in DoD or military contracting
- Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS
- Understanding of commercial terms and conditions
- Certification in contract management (e.g., CPCM, CFCM, CCCM) is a plus
- Familiarity with specific contract types (e.g., procurement contracts, service agreements, NDAs) may be required in certain industries
