About the role

  • You’ll provide administrative and scientific review support across the Epidemiology and Researcher Enablement teams, helping ensure research applications and annual reports are reviewed thoroughly and efficiently.
  • This is an interdisciplinary role where you’ll gain exposure to the breadth and scope of research conducted using UK Biobank data — processing thousands of applications and reports each year.
  • You’ll work closely with colleagues across Access and Epidemiology, providing scientific input and ensuring databases and records remain accurate and up to date.
  • You’ll also engage with senior stakeholders across UK Biobank and NDPH, contributing to smooth day-to-day operations within a quality-focused environment aligned to ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 standards.
  • Supporting the scientific review of research applications seeking access to UK Biobank data.
  • Reviewing annual reports and outputs from researchers currently accessing UKB data.
  • Providing scientific advice to researchers worldwide regarding study conduct and available data and samples.
  • Maintaining and updating databases of publications generated using UK Biobank data.
  • Ensuring records and documentation remain accurate and current.
  • Working collaboratively with senior stakeholders across Access and Epidemiology teams.
  • Supporting adherence to ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 quality standards and contributing to continuous process improvement.

Requirements

  • A degree or higher degree (e.g. MSc or PhD) in epidemiology, statistics, or a related discipline.
  • A strong understanding of epidemiological concepts and study design.
  • Experience reviewing scientific publications or research outputs.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Experience delivering high-quality researcher support or customer service in a fast-paced administrative environment.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Flexibility to respond to changing business demands.
