About the role
- Assist customers inside and outside a U-Haul center with U-Haul products and services
- Inspect and maintain equipment on the lot, including checking fluid levels and cleaning
- Use smartphone-based U-Scan technology to manage rentals and inventory
- Move and hook up U-Haul trucks and trailers; install hitches and trailer wiring
- Prepare rental invoices and accept equipment returned from rental
- Fill propane and drive a forklift (certifications offered upon employment)
- Answer questions and educate customers regarding products and services
- Participate in ongoing continuous education through U-Haul University and other on-the-job training
- Other duties as assigned, support team and be the face of U-Haul customer service
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to move equipment weighing a minimum of 50 lbs. assisted or unassisted
- Ability to work around moving parts, machines, fumes, and irritant chemicals and use protective gear as needed (masks, goggles, gloves, shields)
- Must comply with U-Haul nicotine hiring policy in applicable states (applicants who use nicotine products may not be hired in listed states)
- Willingness to obtain certifications offered by U-Haul (propane filling, forklift)
