About the role

  • Trainline: European rail app enabling travellers to find and book tickets across carriers and fares
  • Data Analytics central to product, embedded across cross-functional product and marketing teams
  • Drive insights into product usage, user monetisation and user behaviour to set product strategy
  • Create focus and accountability by setting metrics, goals, and feeding insights into decision making
  • Own the full product analytics lifecycle in an embedded product team
  • Deep-dive into user behaviour, uncover friction points, and size opportunities
  • Define north star metrics, primary KPIs, and guardrails for features and experiments
  • Design, execute and analyse A/B tests using sound statistical principles (MDE, power, duration, etc)
  • Translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations to help drive product strategy
  • Build data models and pipelines with support from Data Engineering and Data Scientists
  • Collaborate with Design and UX to understand how changes impact customer experience

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience in a Product Analytics or embedded analytics role
  • Strong, hands-on SQL skills: joining multiple event-level datasets, building funnels, writing efficient queries
  • Experience with A/B testing: hypothesis design, metric selection, test analysis (including power/MDE)
  • Proven ability to partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering and Design
  • Strong data visualisation skills using tools like Tableau, Spotfire, Power BI etc.
  • Strong SQL skills required
  • Ability to communicate insights clearly and tailor messages for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity, prioritising impact, and owning decisions
  • Bonus: Experience using Python for analysis, experimentation workflows or automation
  • Bonus: Familiarity with dbt, Looker, or similar modern data tools
  • Bonus: Experience with mobile or consumer web products
