About the role

  • Reporting to the Director, Finance and Corporate Services, the Financial Analyst will support various financial accounting, reporting, analysis, and budgeting processes enabling decision-making within the organization.
  • Performs general accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivables tasks including account analysis, journal entries, bank reconciliations, coding vendor invoices and generating customer invoices
  • Cash flow management, bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and payment transactions (ACH, EFTs, wires, cheques)
  • Ensure compliance transactions adhere to financial policies, controls and standards.
  • Support quarter-end/year-end closing and audit processes
  • Assist external auditors for interim and year-end related tasks
  • Research accounting and tax issues and prepare analysis of and appropriate accounting and tax treatment.
  • Prepare corporate tax filings, sales tax filings, CRA filings, and ensure compliance with regulations
  • Preparation and analysis of financial reports and ad hoc reports as needed for management reporting, audits, and compliance reporting to the Ministry of Health related to Touchstone’s funding agreements
  • Provides support for finance technology matters and software implementations
  • Support financial planning process (annual budget, forecasts, quarterly reporting, variance analysis) to lead financial discussions with program teams to build a financial plan that serves the organization’s strategy and operational plans
  • Able to build complex financial reporting models and customize project financial reporting
  • Monitor financial KPIs, forecasting of financial results to budget to inform variance analysis, assess financial risks, and recommendations for risk mitigation
  • Prepare ad hoc financial analyses to support management decision-making

Requirements

  • A professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent)
  • Post-secondary degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in financial planning, analysis, accounting, or a similar role
  • Experience in non-profit and healthcare organizations is an asset
  • Adaptable to changing processes, competing deadlines, and fast-paced environments
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with databases and financial systems (e.g. Quickbooks)
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
