About the role

  • Serve as the right hand to the CEO, providing strategic counsel and operational leadership
  • Translate company vision and strategy into actionable operational plans and executable initiatives
  • Act as a sounding board for strategic decisions and business challenges
  • Lead key meetings and represent the CEO when needed in operational matters
  • Oversee day-to-day operations across all departments ensuring alignment with company objectives
  • Develop and implement operational processes, systems, and best practices to drive efficiency and scalability
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational health and success
  • Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies, implementing solutions to optimize workflow and resource utilization
  • Lead company-wide cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality and performance standards
  • Conduct regular analysis of operating expenses, vendor contracts, and resource allocation to identify savings opportunities
  • Develop and manage operational budgets across departments, ensuring fiscal responsibility
  • Negotiate with vendors and service providers to secure favorable terms and pricing
  • Implement data-driven decision making processes to maximize ROI on operational investments
  • Oversee and coordinate strategic projects and initiatives across the organization
  • Establish project management frameworks, methodologies, and governance structures
  • Set clear milestones, timelines, and success metrics for company initiatives
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and resources to achieve project objectives
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to oversee product development roadmaps
  • Ensure roadmap alignment with business strategy, customer needs, and market opportunities
  • Balance competing priorities and resource constraints to optimize delivery schedules
  • Track progress against roadmap commitments and communicate updates to stakeholders
  • Drive continuous improvement in development processes and time-to-market
  • Build, lead, and mentor high-performing teams across operational functions
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
  • Develop talent within the organization through coaching, training, and professional development opportunities
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across departments
  • Lead special projects and initiatives as assigned by the CEO
  • Support business development activities, partnerships, and strategic growth opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and industry standards
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and external meetings when needed
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required to support company success

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive operational leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior executive role
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • Experience in e-commerce, payments, or fintech industries
  • Track record of successful business transformation and change management initiatives
  • Experience with remote or distributed team management
  • Technical background or strong technical acumen
  • Previous experience supporting a CEO or founder in a COO or similar executive capacity
