About the role

  • Respond to country-specific requests related to health governance, community systems strengthening, oversight, or implementation support
  • Provide technical assistance related to HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria, and Resilient and Sustainable Systems for Health (RSSH)
  • Support civil society and community engagement, including: Strengthening the role of civil society organizations (CSOs) and community networks
  • Supporting community-led and rights-based approaches
  • Facilitating inclusive and gender-responsive dialogue among communities, CSOs, and government institutions
  • Engage with Global Fund structures and processes, including CCMs, grant-making, community engagement, and accountability mechanisms
  • Prepare assignment-specific reports, including recommendations and lessons learned
  • Maintain communication with partner institutions and BACKUP Health throughout each assignment

Requirements

  • Degree in Social science, Political science, Sociology, Humanities, Public health, Medicine, Psychology, Law, or Economics
  • Command of English language is required; second language in French, Russian or Portuguese strongly preferred
  • 10 years of relevant experience in HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria, Resilient and Sustainable Systems for Health (RSSH), Community systems strengthening
  • 5 years of experience advising or strengthening CSOs, community networks, or key population groups in the context of Global Fund or health system strengthening efforts
  • 5 years of professional experience in low‑ and middle‑income countries in the areas of HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria, RSSH, or community systems strengthening
  • experience in Anglophone African countries, Francophone Western or Central Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia or Mozambique
  • Strong Preference for: 5+ years working with/through the Global Fund (grant-making, CCM participation, community engagement)
  • 5+ years designing and implementing community-led or rights-based approaches for equitable access to health services
  • 5+ years promoting or integrating inclusive, gender-responsive dialogue between CSOs/communities and government institutions
