About the role
- Identify prospective buyers of Thermo Fisher products and services with the goal of winning new accounts and expanding market share
- Negotiate contracts and close orders with end users and purchasing departments and support all procurement processes
- Enter accurate and complete customer data and sales information into the company sales database (SFDC CRM system)
- Provide accurate and timely weekly sales forecasts to sales management
- Assist sales leadership with future financial planning by providing insight into the prospects for growth within your territory
- Deliver technical and business presentations at trade shows, user meetings, customer seminars and other customer events
- Meet your key performance indicators (KPI's) as set by sales leadership
- Manage key Customer Relationships & Distributor Business Partnerships
Requirements
- Degree in a Life Science, ideally Biology or similar
- Familiarity with or strong background selling in a Clinical Diagnostic Lab setting
- Ideally some experience of selling capital equipment and associated consumables
- 3+ years of consultative sales experience in a complex technical environment
- Alternatively, a candidate with no sales experience but with strong commercial awareness and good technical knowledge of Clinical Diagnostic Lab setting gained as a lab supervisor or technician (or similar)
- A broad familiarity with any of the following industries would be an advantage: Microbiology, Biology, Molecular, Clinical, or Chemistry
- A sales mentality; strongly motivated by targets and the desire to win new business
- Must reside within VA/MD/Wash DC and be able to travel frequently on a weekly basis within the assigned Territory
- Must hold a valid Driving License
- Fluent in English
