About the role
- Serve as a general assignment reporter, digging and enterprise stories for multiple platforms
- Develop breaking, hard-hitting, exclusive and enterprise stories about local markets
- Identify, develop and cultivate sources for general assignment and race and culture coverage
- Shoot, write, edit, produce and report high-quality stories for TV and digital
- Provide live reporting and ad lib coverage as needed
- Use data and research tools to tell high-impact stories and experiment with new technology
- Work any day part, shifts and weekends as assigned
- Maintain strong social media presence and serve the community
Requirements
- Must be a team player with an exceptional work ethic
- Ability to work under deadline, multi-task, prioritize assignments
- Flexibility to work any shift required (any day part, weekends, late nights, overnights, holidays)
- Minimum 2-year major market television news experience
- Excellent editorial, writing, shooting, editing, and on-air presentation skills, including live reporting & ad lib expertise
- Ability to identify, develop, shoot, write, edit, produce and report high-quality stories
- Experience using data and research tools and willingness to experiment with new technology
- Strong presence on social media
- Desire to serve the community and cultivate contacts and exclusive story ideas
- Respected, knowledgeable, ethical station representative
- Background check clearance and clean driving record required
- Required Education: College Diploma; Preferred: Degree in Journalism or related field
