About the role

  • The Very Group — helping families get more out of life via Very.co.uk
  • Join a dedicated Fraud Risk Analytics team within Credit Risk to protect customers and the business
  • Analyse fraud trends and behaviours using large datasets to inform strategy
  • Design, test and implement fraud rules and controls across the customer journey (from new credit applications to account takeovers)
  • Monitor performance of fraud strategies and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Deliver clear, compelling insights and recommendations to stakeholders across the business
  • Collaborate closely with operational fraud prevention teams (Bolton and Speke) and wider Credit Risk colleagues
  • Manage multiple priorities, balancing day-to-day analysis with longer-term strategic improvements
  • Use SQL, SAS, Python and advanced Excel to interrogate data and shape decisions
  • Freedom to make critical decisions and see their impact quickly

Requirements

  • A degree in a numerate subject (e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or similar)
  • Strong hands-on experience with SQL, SAS, Python or equivalent
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with fraud strategy, credit risk, or related analytics (experience with FICO Blaze Advisor or other decision engines is a plus)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Great communication skills; comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders and influencing decisions
  • Collaborative, adaptable approach; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-changing environment
  • Willingness/ability to undertake credit, CIFAS, Right to Work checks and possibly a DBS check if required by role
