About the role

  • Lead and drive the transition of traditional systems engineering processes into a fully integrated digital engineering environment, applying advanced Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles to modernize program execution.
  • Coordinate and oversee the development of complex engineering systems and capabilities, with a focus on functional and system-level requirements, architecture design, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Develop and maintain MBSE artifacts to support the full lifecycle development of Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) applications, including SysML/UML-based models for Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), requirements, architectural views, and simulation scenarios.
  • Perform detailed analysis and modeling activities such as use case development, functional decomposition, and requirement generation to ensure traceability from concept through deployment.
  • Utilize MBSE toolchains such as Cameo, MagicDraw, Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody, or equivalent platforms to construct, manage, and communicate comprehensive system models.
  • Support the development of complete architecture views including functional, physical, power, safety, cybersecurity, and interface perspectives to enable end-to-end system understanding and integration.
  • Facilitate the adoption and institutionalization of MBSE across the program by employing Agile, Lean, SAFe, and CMMI methodologies and guiding multidisciplinary teams through process change and tool implementation.
  • Act as a change leader, promoting communication and engagement strategies to increase stakeholder buy-in and MBSE competency across engineering teams and program offices.
  • Provide support for requirements management activities using IBM Rational DOORS and DOORS Next Generation, ensuring accurate linkage between requirements and model elements.
  • Apply architectural certification frameworks (DoDAF, TOGAF) or JCIDS processes to ensure models and system artifacts meet all technical, operational, and acquisition standards.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, modelers, and analysts in the application of MBSE principles and digital engineering practices, contributing to workforce development and capability growth.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline, or four (4) years of a demonstrated and established knowledge base and subject matter expertise relevant to specific technical disciplines of the SOW.
  • Fifteen (15) years of experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and leading a team in the successful completion of moving processes into the digital engineering environment.
  • Coordinating development activities associated with engineering systems, capabilities, and activities, to include demonstrated experience in functional and system level requirements.
  • Strong communication and change management skills to accelerate MBSE adoption across the program.
  • Demonstrated experience in employing Agile, Lean, SAFe and Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) methodologies in an engineering environment.
  • Developing and delivering the full range of MBSE artifacts needed to support development of Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) applications, including Systems Modeling Language (SysML)/Unified Modeling Language (UML) models of Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and Requirements, Architecture models, and simulation cases.
  • Performing analyses to create and manage requirements and generate specifications to include developing CONOPS and timelines, perform functional decomposition and/or use case analysis.
  • Experience with MBSE toolchain, including UML/SysML modeling tools like Cameo, MagicDraw, Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody or equivalent.
  • Supporting the creation of system and subsystem architecture views (functional, physical, power, safety, cybersecurity, etc.).
  • Experience in DOORS and DOORS Next.
  • Certification in at least one of the following: Department of Defense Architecture Framework( DODAF), The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) and 6 sigma or extensive experience in Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS).
  • Top Secret Clearance required.
