About the role

  • Provide legal counsel and representation in proceedings involving housing and consumer issues
  • Represent clients at all appearances, hearings, and proceedings
  • Provide legal counsel to first-time home buyers
  • Provide legal counsel to homeowners at risk of foreclosure
  • Conduct legal research in each case as required
  • Maintain knowledge of legislative changes and current case law
  • Consult with and review work of assigned support staff
  • Conduct community outreach, training, and education

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor
  • Admission to the New York Bar
  • High level of initiative, independence, and self-driven
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent negotiating ability
  • Strong PC skills to include Word and Excel
  • Ability to think and speak quickly and accurately
  • Respect and consideration towards our clients
  • Must have reliable transportation, as multi-county travel may be required
