About the role
- As a Structures Design Technician, you will play a key role in shaping and safeguarding Suffolk’s infrastructure by bringing engineering designs to life.
- You’ll support the delivery of bridges and structural improvement projects from initial investigation through to detailed design, working closely with project managers, engineers, councillors, external specialists and local communities.
- Your work will range from producing technical drawings and bills of quantities to preparing risk assessments and essential documentation that enables our Infrastructure Operations teams to get to work on site.
- You’ll help ensure schemes progress smoothly by coordinating with statutory bodies, monitoring site activities, keeping data systems accurate and supporting compliance with key legislation.
Requirements
- A solid technical foundation with a Level 3 qualification in an engineering discipline and developing skills in AutoCAD, GIS, and data management systems.
- An analytical and detail‑focused mindset.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Good organisational and planning abilities.
- A flexible, proactive and safety‑conscious approach, with the ability to adapt to new challenges.
