Handle a caseload of Crime/Fidelity (first party) claims involving private companies, public companies, and financial institutions from inception to final disposition
Conduct investigations and analyze and evaluate information learned
Appropriately and accurately analyze and determine coverage, liability and damages based upon the facts of each claim
Communicate written positions to insureds and other required parties on coverage, liability, damages and other issues
Set appropriate expense and indemnity reserves and monitor regularly for needed adjustments
Present cases to management for expense or indemnity reserve authority above established levels
Develop and implement resolution strategies through negotiations to achieve high quality outcomes
Understand and analyze potential extra-contractual liability as needed
Attend trials and mediations as necessary
Participate in audits, projects, training and product development initiatives
Prepare comprehensive reports and deliver presentations to senior claim leadership on case developments, policy issues, and industry trends
Provide support and collaborate with business partners to evaluate and address claim trends and developments
Address inquiries from agents and policyholders, providing superior customer service
Provide key training and marketing support to Underwriters
Attend and present at various industry events each year on risk management and claims topics
Requirements
Juris Doctorate degree preferred
Four year College Degree Required
Minimum of five years handling Fidelity/Crime claims coverage and/or liability cases as defense counsel or claims handler
Background in Accounting, Financial Institutions or Financial Services Claims is a plus
Candidates are required to have knowledge and experience in Excel spreadsheets
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent strategic thinking ability and execution skills
Excellent negotiation and advanced technical claim handling skills, including knowledge of insurance coverage issues
Superior time, task prioritization and desk management skills
Ability to communicate thoughts clearly and concisely, and to influence and persuade others
Ability to work with only moderate amount of supervision and employ a "team player" attitude
Willingness/ability to attend trials and mediations as necessary
