About the role
- Support the VP of Project Finance in managing all project-level financing activities, including permanent and construction debt and tax equity
- Prepare and maintain project finance models
- Contribute to analysis of new solar energy markets and programs
- Determine optimal project financing structures and work with lenders and investors
- Negotiate financing agreements
- Maintain financial models to enable a streamlined and consistent approach across business development and investment decisions
- Value projects and project portfolios owned and under development
- Assist with development activities to optimize the value of the company’s solar assets, including market research, promotion with officials, and pursuit of financial incentives
- Work closely with Business Development and Origination teams to conduct market research and make go-to-market recommendations
- Cover the company’s target markets as an analyst, understanding market conditions, rules, regulations, and key actors
- Support Business Development and origination efforts by leveraging industry contacts and originating projects as opportunities arise
Requirements
- Proven skills and experience in project-level financing in the solar energy industry
- Solar financing experience preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience
- Familiarity with the development and diligence process required to successfully finance energy projects
- BA/BS required, ideally in a quantitative, business, or technical field
- Strong experience and skills with Excel spreadsheets, financial modeling and data analysis
- Familiarity with financial/accounting principles
- Familiarity with electricity industry players, economics, and trends
- Familiarity with solar industry basics and modeling tools (PVSyst, net metering and QF tariffs, etc.)
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and ability to interpret large amounts of information from various sources
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong negotiation and presentation skills
- Detail oriented and organized
- Ability to manage multiple projects under various deadlines
- Ability to create forms, letters, presentations, and spreadsheets using MS Office
- Ability to use all available resources to conduct research
- Self-motivated with ability to work in a team and independently
- Safe driving record and valid driver’s license
- Must be able to walk over undeveloped land unassisted, travel unassisted, and sit at a computer for long periods of time
- Up to 10% travel in support of the position responsibilities
