About the role
- Design and implement cloud-based database architectures that meet application requirements and organizational goals
- Collaborate with application teams to architect scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud database solutions
- Partner with the Cloud Engineering and Site Reliability Engineers to integrate database CI/CD pipelines into their application deployments
- Have in-depth knowledge of designing and building automation for database provisioning and repetitive tasks using infrastructure as code tools
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and high availability strategies
- Proficient at preparing deployment and standard operational procedure manuals
- Manage source control, branching strategies, and CI/CD workflows using GitHub
- Automate the monitoring and alerting of database performance and availability
- Evaluate new product releases and make recommendations on implementation of newest versions
- Provide second-level support for troubleshooting production incidents
Requirements
- >10 years of professional experience managing relational and NoSQL databases in a cloud environment (AWS and GCP)
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation
- Experience with GitHub for version control and workflow automation
- Familiarity with Jenkins pipelines, Ansible automation and ServiceNow
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, VPCs, subnets, and security best practices
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent critical thinking skills
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline
- Strong documentation skills in creating and maintaining operational policies and procedures
- A desire for continuous learning
