About the role
- Design and execute a global fundraising plan to raise $25–35M start-up capital
- Engage directly with at least five core philanthropic partners and three multi-donor climate funds.
- Curate co-fundraising opportunities with aligned organisations already raising donor-government funds
- Build compelling narratives, proposals, and pitch materials positioning Grids of the Future as the premier platform for systemic grid transformation.
- Communicate the catalytic role of philanthropic capital in mobilising blended and private finance.
- Document and share success stories (e.g., battery storage pilots, digital twins, procurement reforms) that demonstrate replicable, scalable solutions.
- Secure funding for flagship demonstration projects proving the model’s effectiveness.
- Map funding flows across energy transition, infrastructure, and digitalisation.
- Track evolving donor priorities (infrastructure and change management, climate-development nexus, resilience, systemic reform).
- Monitor peer initiatives to identify differentiation strategies and build strategic alliances.
- Align with GEAPP regional teams to ensure fundraising supports local priorities while advancing the global GOTF program.
- Facilitate knowledge-sharing across regions to strengthen donor appeal.
- Support international convenings, conferences, and donor roundtables that position Grids of the Future as a flagship GEAPP initiative.
Requirements
- Education: Master's degree within Infrastructure Finance, International Development, Development Economics, Energy Policy, or related field with focus on global development and multi-sector approaches.
- Global Fundraising Expertise: 10+ years of experience in international development fundraising with demonstrated success raising $5M+ annually from diverse global funding sources including multilateral, bilateral, corporations, foundations and individual philanthropists.
- Preference to a candidate with experience in leading fundraising initiatives for IPPs.
- Multi-Regional Expertise: Experience working across Global South regions (Africa, Asia, Latin America) with understanding of diverse country contexts and development challenges.
- Global Systems Thinking: Ability to articulate complex, multi-sector interventions and their interconnected impacts across diverse global contexts to international audiences including donors, governments, and private sector.
- Global Market Analysis: Capability to analyze international funding landscapes across multiple sectors and regions, identifying strategic opportunities for resource mobilization.
- Cross-Cultural Communication: Outstanding ability to communicate effectively across diverse cultural contexts and translate technical concepts into compelling funding proposals for international audiences.
- Private Sector Global Networks: Existing relationships with philanthropies, DFIs, MDBs, corporations, and climate funds
