About the role
- Serve as the regulatory focal point for multiple business categories, ensuring consistent, aligned, and business‑focused regulatory guidance across the Latin America Operating Unit.
- Lead and coordinate multicountry regulatory projects within the SRA (SCIENTIFIC AND REGULATORY AFFAIRS) LATAM structure, aligning priorities, timelines, and decision‑making across markets.
- Shape and execute regulatory compliance strategy for ingredients, formulas, products, packaging, labeling, claims, and marketing communications across South American markets.
- Enable and accelerate innovation by defining optimal regulatory pathways for new products, ingredients, packaging, and claims, balancing speed‑to‑market, risk, and business value.
- Partner with Marketing, GDI, Supply Chain, Legal, and Public Affairs to provide senior‑level regulatory judgment that supports portfolio evolution and competitive advantage.
- Engage and negotiate with regulatory authorities and external stakeholders, advocating Company positions with credibility and a collaborative, non‑adversarial approach.
- Manage complex and competing priorities across categories, countries, and initiatives, focusing resources on the highest‑impact business opportunities.
- Lead scientific and regulatory incident management and crisis response, ensuring timely risk assessment, alignment, and resolution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Nutrition, Regulatory Affairs, or a related scientific discipline; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in regulatory compliance, product commercialization, and innovation within the food, beverage, or pharmaceutical industry, with strong exposure to Latin America.
- Demonstrated expertise in food and beverage regulatory frameworks across Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Bolivia, including ingredients, labeling, claims, packaging, and sanitary registrations.
- Proven ability to lead and influence through matrixed structures, coordinating multicountry initiatives and aligning diverse stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills, including direct interaction with regulatory authorities and industry bodies.
- Ability to manage ambiguity and competing priorities while delivering clear, timely, and business‑oriented regulatory recommendations.
- Solid understanding of food safety, basic toxicology, and nutrition science, and their application to innovation and public‑health‑related regulations.
- Fluency in English, Portuguese, and Spanish is required.
