• Generate and develop compelling national business stories on a daily basis
• Able to generate ideas, including the consumer interest and personal finance stories that are the wire’s bread and butter
• Pitch stories that meet the needs of the wire and find sources to support that reporting, with an eye to diversifying voices where possible
• Write business-oriented feature and analysis pieces
• Monitor and assess business news developments, ensuring we have the latest news on the wire
• Cover quarterly earnings reports from major publicly traded companies
• Develop reliable business sources in key companies and industries
• Uncover exclusive stories that put CP ahead of the pack
