Engineering Intern, Summer 2026

Operations

• Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of podcast and TV video assets—from ingest and media organization to metadata recording, managing and optimizing internal storage systems, and leading distribution requirements to our syndication partners.
• Oversee organization, ingest, and quality control of both long form video episodes and social media assets, across all shows produced.
• Manage metadata standards and data input across platforms and databases to ensure discoverability, consistency, and compliance with partner requirements.
• Collaborate with producers and editors to ensure accurate metadata tagging, internal management, and asset distribution.
• Manage the packaging, export, and delivery of video episodes and vertical short videos to internal programming teams and syndication partners.

Executive Assistant

• Manage executive calendars, including coordinating meetings with participants, resolving conflicts, and generally managing the Digital Leadership team’s daily schedules.
• Organize department meetings, including scheduling, reminders, agenda development, conference room and/or virtual room set-up, and technology support.
• Attend key meetings, tracking and helping drive completion of key deliverables, and following up on outstanding items.
• Serve as department administrator and maintain departmental organizational charts, vacation calendars, distribution lists, and more.
• Prepare drafts of general correspondence, department communications, reports and presentations.
• Lead logistics for All Hands meetings, departmental and team events, social activities, offsite meetings, etc as well as for external events which include, but are not limited to, client entertainment and advertising industry events.

• The Athletic is looking for a versatile reporter to join its Data and Visuals team.
• Some days you may be publishing articles and charts about analytics, sports strategy, trade values, the salary cap or sports analytics.
• Others you may need to find or analyze data in partnership with another reporter or editor.
• You may develop and publish charts, tables or other visual explanations, alongside more straightforward writing and reporting.
• You may pitch in on tasks of all kinds on large interactive projects, from The Beast to our NFL Playoff tools — and applications we have yet to imagine or create.

Producer

• Manage The Athletic’s Creative Studios business and lead production on commercially supported video projects.

• Book and manage freelance production specialists, including field crews, video editors and post-production.
