About the role

  • Evaluate and price renewable, energy storage, and hybrid transactions, including customized power offtake agreements, owning valuation workstreams in partnership with Origination, Structured Origination, M&A, and Development teams.
  • Support commercial structuring and contract negotiations by providing analytical insights on pricing, risk allocation, and key value drivers.
  • Ensure transaction valuations are aligned with AES Clean Energy’s power market views in collaboration with Term Trading and Structured Trading teams.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance commercial and deal-level models used to value solar, wind, battery storage, and hybrid assets.
  • Implement model improvements and automation to reduce turnaround times and support a growing transaction pipeline.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of internal pricing, valuation tools, and model libraries.
  • Partner with Risk Management to support internal model validation, risk quantification, and governance processes.
  • Work with ETRM teams to ensure accurate booking and representation of executed contracts and transactions.
  • Develop a strong understanding of commercial drivers, market dynamics, and regulatory factors impacting AES Clean Energy’s portfolio.
  • Continuously build technical and commercial expertise to support career progression within AES Clean Energy’s commercial organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Economics, Finance, or a related quantitative field.
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in energy, renewables, power markets, or related analytical roles.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. power markets (PJM, CAISO, ERCOT preferred).
  • Hands‑on experience using at least one programming or analytical language (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB, VBA).
  • Ability to communicate complex analytical concepts clearly to cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant technical or analytical discipline (preferred).
  • Experience with renewable asset revenue modeling and operating characteristics (preferred).
  • Experience with battery energy storage system (BESS) optimization or hybrid energy systems (preferred).
  • Familiarity with commercial deal processes, structured transactions, or ETRM systems (preferred).
