Job Level

About the role

  • Assess existing agroforestry systems in project areas, including species composition, planting design, production, income, and labor dynamics
  • Conduct a field visit to collect agroforestry, market, and household-level livelihood data within customary clan-based land-use contexts
  • Design and evaluate alternative agroforestry system configurations (species mix, density, spatial layout, phasing)
  • Quantify trade-offs between agroforestry participation, household income, carbon sequestration, and project IRR
  • Identify design levers to reduce costs, improve productivity, and optimize timing of cashflows
  • Assess constraints to adoption at household and clan levels, including land access, labor availability, and upfront capital
  • Collaborate with Terraformation carbon and finance teams to integrate findings into existing project models
  • Deliver concise, decision-oriented recommendations for Terraformation leadership and investment committees

Requirements

  • 10+ years experience in agroforestry, non-timber forestry products, or tree crop systems
  • Demonstrated experience linking agroforestry design to financial outcomes and community benefits
  • Experience designing or evaluating agroforestry systems under real-world adoption or implementation constraints (e.g., labor, land access, capital, market access)
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to translate technical findings into clear decision guidance
  • Willingness and ability to conduct fieldwork in remote rural settings
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Prior work experience in the Philippines or comparable Southeast Asian contexts (preferred)
  • Experience working on carbon projects or climate finance initiatives (preferred)
  • Experience working with Indigenous Peoples or community-led land-use projects (preferred)
  • Familiarity with FPIC processes and livelihood-sensitive project design (preferred)
