About the role
- Provide efficient and timely support to Tenneco legal, IT, Procurement and business colleagues, advising on all aspects of commercial contract matters including, for example: master services agreements, SAAS licenses, hardware purchasing, confidentiality agreements, and direct materials purchasing
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including both applying existing playbooks and drafting non-standard commercial and legal terms
- Support Procurement teams in selecting and using appropriate contract templates
- Identify and explain relevant terms and conditions of each contract to business colleagues, preparing written summaries as needed
- Collaborate with members of the law department and business teams to build contract templates, playbooks, and workflows
- Participate in negotiations regarding proposed agreements, working under supervision of counsel licensed in the relevant jurisdiction
Requirements
- 7+ years’ experience as a commercial contract attorney
- Strong analytical and drafting skills
- Secondary legal training (e.g. LLM degree or equivalent) from UK or U.S. law school
- Proactive, entrepreneurial approach to understanding business requirements
- Excellent time management and organizational skills; able to efficiently handle multiple requests and manage priorities
