About the role
- Lead and manage investigations involving compliance issues, whistleblower complaints, and regulatory concerns, in coordination with executive leadership.
- Serve as a primary legal point of contact for government inquiries, audits, subpoenas, and regulatory examinations.
- Interface directly with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, including pharmacy boards, healthcare regulators, and data privacy regulators.
- Oversee responses to civil investigative demands, information requests, and enforcement actions, partnering with outside counsel as needed.
- Design, implement, and maintain corporate compliance programs aligned with healthcare, pharmacy, privacy, and consumer protection regulations.
- Advise on regulatory requirements impacting pharmacy operations, telehealth, prescription fulfillment, and patient engagement.
- Monitor regulatory developments and proactively assess risk exposure across jurisdictions.
- Partner with cross-functional leaders (Operations, HR, Finance, Technology, Marketing) to embed compliance into business processes.
- Support corporate governance activities, including board and committee materials, resolutions, and governance policies.
- Advise executive leadership on risk mitigation strategies and legal implications of strategic initiatives.
- Assist in maintaining corporate records, governance frameworks, and compliance reporting structures.
- Support enterprise risk management initiatives and compliance reporting to leadership and the Board.
- Serve as a trusted legal advisor to senior leaders on complex, sensitive, and high-risk matters.
- Help scale legal and compliance infrastructure to support rapid growth and multi-state operations.
- Manage and coordinate outside counsel relationships efficiently and strategically.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (in good standing).
- Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, with a strong background in:
- Regulatory compliance and enforcement
- Government relations or regulatory agency interaction
- Corporate governance
- Investigations
- Prior experience in government, healthcare, pharmacy, life sciences, or other highly regulated industries strongly preferred.
- Experience working in-house or advising high-growth companies is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in ambiguous, high-stakes situations.
