About the role
- Collaboratively work within Programs x Domestic Ops - West Branch to support local disaster response
- Build relationships with community partners in emergency management, VOAD, and local disaster assistance organizations in Northern California
- Motivate and inspire coworkers, contractors, volunteer leaders, and volunteers to further Team Rubicon service delivery
- Execute Team Rubicon’s strategy to enhance rapid, local disaster response capability
- Develop and maintain relationships with disaster assistance organizations at state, county, and city levels
- Support program delivery of the leadership lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, and development of Greyshirt volunteer leaders
- Manage purchasing and expenses according to the Branch budget plan and approve events in the system
- Provide Emergency Operations Center (EOC) support and assume designated EOC positions during disasters
- Participate in activation, operation, and deactivation of the EOC to ensure effective response coordination
- Coordinate response activities with local, state, federal, and non-governmental agencies and implement disaster response strategies
- Facilitate communication between field operations, the EOC, and external stakeholders
Requirements
- 1-3 years of relevant professional experience in the military, disaster response, emergency management or first responder fields
- Proven record of personnel management experience such as recruiting, managing, training, and developing employees and volunteers
- Proficient with technology tools and in remote working for communicating and coordinating with a large network of TR staff members, Greyshirts (volunteers) and external stakeholders
- Successful past performance in leading volunteers is highly desired
- This is a remote position based in Sacramento, CA; San Jose, CA; or San Francisco, CA
- Evening and weekend schedule supporting leadership meetings, video conferences, events, and operations
- Reliable transportation required for local travel
- At least 25% non-local travel to support broader organizational activities
