About the role

  • Collaboratively work within Programs x Domestic Ops - West Branch to support local disaster response
  • Build relationships with community partners in emergency management, VOAD, and local disaster assistance organizations in Northern California
  • Motivate and inspire coworkers, contractors, volunteer leaders, and volunteers to further Team Rubicon service delivery
  • Execute Team Rubicon’s strategy to enhance rapid, local disaster response capability
  • Develop and maintain relationships with disaster assistance organizations at state, county, and city levels
  • Support program delivery of the leadership lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, and development of Greyshirt volunteer leaders
  • Manage purchasing and expenses according to the Branch budget plan and approve events in the system
  • Provide Emergency Operations Center (EOC) support and assume designated EOC positions during disasters
  • Participate in activation, operation, and deactivation of the EOC to ensure effective response coordination
  • Coordinate response activities with local, state, federal, and non-governmental agencies and implement disaster response strategies
  • Facilitate communication between field operations, the EOC, and external stakeholders

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of relevant professional experience in the military, disaster response, emergency management or first responder fields
  • Proven record of personnel management experience such as recruiting, managing, training, and developing employees and volunteers
  • Proficient with technology tools and in remote working for communicating and coordinating with a large network of TR staff members, Greyshirts (volunteers) and external stakeholders
  • Successful past performance in leading volunteers is highly desired
  • This is a remote position based in Sacramento, CA; San Jose, CA; or San Francisco, CA
  • Evening and weekend schedule supporting leadership meetings, video conferences, events, and operations
  • Reliable transportation required for local travel
  • At least 25% non-local travel to support broader organizational activities
