About the role
- Provide a broad range of data engineering functions including data modeling, data quality, data profiling, data acquisition and ingestion, ETL, metadata enrichment and management, data provenance and lineage
- Design and develop to meet business and technical requirements; analyze, adapt, integrate, code, test, debug, and execute
- Use and evolve established patterns to solve complex problems; lead development of new patterns where necessary
- Serve as subject matter expert and consult with peers and partners across multiple teams on research, analysis, design, and support
- Provide thought leadership for data engineering best practices and participate in knowledge transfer
- Actively mentor and enable team members; lead, motivate and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork
Requirements
- Degree, Postgraduate Degree, or Technical Certificate in Data Management or related discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering), or equivalent practical experience
- Graduate Degree preferred
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Proficiency in SQL and Python
- Understanding of Data Models and ability to create Basic Data Models
- Experience in analyzing and performance tuning SQL queries
- Strong experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, Synapse Dedicated Pool, or Oracle
- Drive to uplift knowledge and support for Unity Catalog and Databricks Lakehouse
- Good experience in Banking/Financial Domain
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues
- Experience mentoring and enabling team members, sharing knowledge and leveraging engineering best practices
