Principal Software Engineer

Systems Engineer

• The selected Sr. Principal Systems Engineer responsibilities will include the support of the Ground Weapons System (GWS) program as both Product Owner and contributor on the Systems Engineering Team for the Ground Fire Control (GFC) product.
• This role is responsible for developing and assisting in the requirements process that directly supports the design and development of GWS capabilities on behalf of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
• This programs expectation of a Product Owner includes being responsible for the teams roadmap, the vision of the teams products, the estimation of work required to complete capabilities, the planning of the work for the team, producing the metrics that show the teams progress and briefing those metrics to program leadership.
• These responsibilities will be ~25% of the role, with the remaining ~75% of workload providing technical contributions for the Systems Engineering team for the product.

Senior Principal Systems Engineer – Product Owner

Mechanical Engineer

• Support GMD Weapon Systems (GWS) and Missile Defense Agency (MDA) programs by reviewing, analyzing, and implementing mechanical engineering requirements in support of supplier capabilities for GMD Weapons Systems.
• Ensure supplier-provided mechanical and electro-mechanical hardware meets strict quality, cost, and manufacturability standards.
• Act as the technical liaison between internal engineering teams and suppliers.
• Evaluate supplier designs, resolve production challenges, and develop technical solutions to optimize manufacturing processes.
• Support ongoing sustainment of existing weapon systems by selecting replacement/repair parts & identifying requirements to overcome system obsolescence.

Principal Mechanical Engineer

• Support GMD Weapon Systems (GWS) and Missile Defense Agency (MDA) programs by reviewing, analyzing, and implementing mechanical engineering requirements.
• Ensure that supplier-provided mechanical and electro-mechanical hardware meets strict quality, cost, and manufacturability standards.
• Act as the technical liaison between internal teams and external suppliers.
• Review vendor specifications to assess program requirements.
• Apply mechanical engineering expertise to address technical challenges for mechanical and electro-mechanical components and systems.
• Conduct non-conformance investigations, perform root cause analysis, and work with suppliers to implement corrective actions.
• Perform technical evaluations of supplier quotes and assess supplier product capabilities and producibility.
• Support sourcing decisions by conducting technical market research, cost benchmarking, and supplier capability assessments.
• Assist in supplier qualification processes, technical reviews, and production readiness evaluations.
• Drive continuous improvement in supplier performance to align with program needs and requirements.
• Travel as necessary (10-25%) to supplier locations and Northrop Grumman facilities.

Principal Systems Engineer

• Work as a member of an Agile Scrum team performing Algorithm development and Analysis for the GMD Weapon System (GWS) Fire Control (GFC) product
• Develop new algorithms, improve old algorithms, and assess the effectiveness and performance of them in GFC software
• Work in a collaborative team environment to understand, implement, and assess new capabilities and algorithms
• Perform algorithm development and analysis which are mathematics and physics based complex solutions critical to the performance of Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) mission.

Senior Principal Staff Systems Engineer

• Understanding, implementing, and testing both existing and new capabilities and algorithms.
• Supporting GWS capabilities on behalf of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
• Writing software that evaluates and manages the threat scene for the missile defense system.

• The Senior Principal Software Engineer will be responsible for understanding, implementing, and testing both existing and new capabilities and algorithms, which include complex mathematics and physics-based solutions, that directly support GWS capabilities on behalf of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA)
• As a Senior Principal Software Engineer on the GFC team, you will be part of a team that writes the software (currently ~1.5 million lines of code) that evaluates and manages the threat scene for the missile defense system that protects the US
